What is Homeopathy?

 Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine introduced and developed by a German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, at the end of the 18th century. Recognizing that the whole person-mind, body, spirit-is affected when there is illness, homeopathy seeks to treat that whole person. The focus is not the diseased part or the sickness, rather the totality of the individual. Homeopathic medicines, or 'remedies', stimulate the body's self-regulating mechanisms to initiate the healing process. 


 Homeopathic medicines (HMs) are regulated in Canada by Health Canada, the federal government department responsible for ensuring the safety, efficacy and compositional integrity of health care products and medical devices distributed and sold in Canada.  Health Canada has formally recognized HMs as pharmaceutical products since 1990 having already issued drug identification numbers for HMs in prior years. 

A qualified classical homeopath works with one remedy at a time, choosing the one that best matches the key presenting signs and symptoms in the person as an individual.
